1mg Dexamethasone Supression Test
The 1mg dexamethasone supression test is a screening test designed to test if you are producing too much cortisol. If the test shows that you do produce too much cortizol, it will be followed by other confirmatory tests.
- Schedule a 7:00 am appointment for your blood work at Quest Diagnostics for the day of your choice at 7:00 am
- The night before, at 11:30 pm, swallow the pill of 1 mg dexamethasone (also called decadron).
- Do not exert yourself the next morning, prior to having your blood work (for example, do not go to the gym)
